Wash Those Bath Toys!

Wash Those Bath Toys!

Let’s admit it, many of us don’t clean our children’s toys as often as we should. Some of the most neglected toys, though, are often the ones that need it most. And what toys are those? Bath toys, of course! It’s easy to think, “Oh, I don’t have to wash those! They’re always in soap and water, so they’re perfectly clean!” But sadly, that’s not the case.

Bath toys are perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and mildew due to how often they are near, or in contact with, humid air and water. Luckily, it’s easy to fight these germs and have clean toys for your kiddos to play with at bathtime!

Remember that vinegar and water mixture we talked about earlier this week? Well, you’re going to want to make it again here! Take a bucket and fill it with water. Add in ½ cup of white vinegar per gallon of water. Completely submerge the toys in the mixture and allow them to soak for 10 to 15 minutes. After the soak, remove them and gently scrub them down with a sponge.

Have toys that soak up water? You can clean the insides of them with the same solution! Simply have the toy suck up some of the solution, give it a good shake, squeeze the contents out, and set it aside to dry!
