HealthCARE Express is bringing urgent care to Texarkana, Ark., and has purchased land on Arkanasas Boulevard where Joe’s Pizza was formerly located for the new clinic.
“We’ve closed on the land. We’re currently looking at floor plans and layout options,” said Tina Baiter-Bell, HealthCare Express marketing director. “We are going to do demolition of the current building there and build brand-new from the ground up.”
Construction will begin sometime between mid-February and March.
“It’s going to be about three to four months on the construction, so we’re looking at opening late spring to early summer of this year,” Baiter-Bell said.
Initially, the clinic will be staffed with one doctor and one mid-level provider and other support staff, creating approximately eight new jobs.
“As numbers increase, then staff will increase,” Baiter-Bell said.
HealthCARE Express is opening the clinic because its clinics on Richmond Road and in Wake Village operate at capacity much of the time.
“Our patient volume right now at both clinics is maxed out with flu season, with wait times up to four hours, so we know the community needs another urgent care center. We looked at different options and really felt that we wanted to be part of growing on the Arkansas side. We want to be able to serve the Arkansas side with the same type of care the Texas side gets for people who live and work on the Arkansas side,” Baiter-Bell said.
The clinic, situated near three pharmacies, will be convenient for patients.
HealthCARE Express also has clinics in Atlanta, Longview and Marshall, Texas.
